Top 5 Benefits Of Having A Blog As A Health Practitioner

Wondering whether blogs are really worth it? I’m not saying blogs are for every single practitioner out there – but they do have a lot to offer your business.

If blogging is on your to-do list and you want to know why it can be a vital piece of your content strategy? Here are my top 5 reasons to keep up with your blog.

Top 5 Benefits Of Having A Blog As A Health Practitioner

Wanna be found on Google? Your blog helps!

Search engines like Google love when you have fresh content that is relevant to your website. So it’s not just what you put on your home or about page!

When you regularly write blogs about your area of expertise and naturally use keywords that are related to what you’re talking about? That’s when Google is all over your site and ranks it higher in queries. Higher ranking equals more people that discover you exist.

It’s perfect for questions you answer over and over

We all have those concepts and questions we have to explain to every other client. It will drive you crazy, so why not skip that altogether?

Write a blog (or three) on the questions that often come up. This could be basic health questions, specific to a health concern you work with, or even a process such as inflammation.

That way, people can read up before they bring it to an appointment. For bonus points, you can add it into a little virtual info pack for new clients who book in with you! Just add the links to your booking system’s autoresponder email.

Not to mention, there are always people asking questions in your DMs or via email enquiry. Rather than writing out a response for each person, have it as a blog post. That way, not only are you giving them what they have asked for, but you’re also encouraging them to explore the other valuable resources on your site!

Build trust with potential clients without having to spend heaps of time

Trust is vital in the relationship between client and health practitioner. We need to help them to feel safe in sharing potentially vulnerable experiences. And we want to make sure they are confident to talk about things like poop with us as well!

But trust is something that builds up piece by piece. Some will only occur in the clinic itself, but you can use your blog as a way to pre-build the foundations of a trusting relationship.

Every time you talk about a relevant topic or experience on your blog? That’s a nugget of trust built. Whenever you showcase that you are an expert in that area by talking about it, rather than just listing it on your home page? Another chunk of trust.

And the best part? Each of these can be trust-building for multiple potential clients! So rather than needing to establish that trust with each person when they first come to see you, you can start the process with new people – without even knowing about it!

Rinse, reuse, recycle (and save your precious hours)

Content can take a long time to produce, especially if it’s not really your jam. So it’s time to get smarter with your content – just like the old adage of cook once, eat twice.

Rather than writing a blog, then a fresh newsletter, then getting stuck on social media ideas… start with the blog. Pull chunks out for your socials, have the intro in your newsletter and link people so they can keep reading. Use it as a script for videos or podcasts if those are on your list.

Hell, you can even add it to paid offers. I’ve incorporated blog content within my paid offers before, and I’ve had plenty of prac clients who have done the same! Get as much goodness out of that blog as you possibly can.

Get more eyes on your offers

The thing about your offerings – whether it’s just 1:1 appointments or you have other options like ebooks and courses? You need to put them out there, and you need people to look at them.

The cool thing about blogs? You can write about topics that relate to your offers. And then at the end, it’s easy and natural to be like ‘hey, want to know more about this/need help with this concern? I have something that helps!’

Plus if you have other goals in mind like list-building, that works as well. Simply encourage people to join your mailing list or download a related freebie/sign up for an opt-in. The more places you put your offers, the better!

Ok so a blog is useful – but what if I don’t know where to start?
