What Services Can I Offer As A Health VA?

What Services Can I Offer As A Health VA

Curious about working as a virtual assistant in the health profession, but unsure what you could offer?

People often think VAs only offer basic services, but the truth is that they can incorporate countless offers depending on their experience, skills and what demand is out there.

Let’s take a deeper dive into the potential services of a health VA.

A comprehensive (but not complete) list of health virtual assistant services

Website support

A website can be a beast for the average health practitioner or business owner to tame. That’s why most will turn to a VA to support their site in one or more ways. This can include:

  • Website design

  • Website maintenance

  • Edits to the website design/updates to the copy

3rd party platforms

Along with a website, your client may use third-party platforms to host products and services such as courses, programs, digital products and ebooks. This could also include client management systems. You may find yourself helping with the set-up, systemising and maintenance of platforms such as:

  • Teachable

  • Simplero

  • Kajabi

  • Simple Clinic

  • Practice Better

  • Cliniko

Blogging

This is a personal favourite, as it has been my bread and butter for 5 years now! You could offer:

  • Blog writing and/or editing

  • Transcribing blogs from videos or audios

  • Uploading and scheduling blogs

  • Refreshing blog content e.g. updating a call-to-action or correcting old links

Writing

Blogging is one form of writing, but there are plenty of others out there in the health VA world. For example, you could write:

  • Website copy

  • Newsletters

  • Ebooks

  • Course content

  • Video scripts

  • TGA/AHPRA compliance rewrites for website copy and blogs

Social media

This is one of the most in-demand services in the practitioner world! Social media services can include:

  • Creating images and infographics

  • Writing caption content

  • Scheduling content

  • Creating marketing plans

  • Creating/editing reels or Tik Toks

Ads

Paid ads are a language of their own, thanks to the different rules and restrictions (that’s why I don’t offer them myself!) Ad services can include:

  • Facebook ads

  • Instagram ads

  • Tik Tok ads

  • Google ads

  • Ad strategy

  • Ad copy

  • Graphic/video creation for ads

Graphic design

Another area that many practitioners outsource is graphic design. You could offer:

  • Branding

  • Logo design

  • Designing templates for social media or handouts

  • Ebook design

  • Design of webinar and presentation slides

Funnels

Don’t get caught up in the lingo - a funnel is simply a designed sequence that a potential client or customer takes when they interact with a business. It generally starts with free content, followed by an opt-in and then an offer for a paid product or service.

If you work with funnels, you could be:

  • Writing or setting up automated email responders

  • Attaching opt-ins to their mailing list provider of choice

  • Writing and scheduling sales emails

  • Reviewing the funnel and strategising to improve results

Podcasting

Most health professionals I know either want to create a podcast or have one already! There is plenty you can do involving podcasts, including:

  • Editing the episodes

  • Uploading and scheduling episodes

  • Managing bookings for guest interviews

  • Writing transcriptions and shownotes

  • Scheduling supporting content into social media

PR

Public relations is a must for any health business owner that wants to grow their reputation and reach. If you offer PR services, you could find yourself:

  • Monitoring and responding to media opportunities

  • Networking and reaching out on behalf of your client

  • Writing, editing and distributing media releases

General tech support

There are plenty of tech issues that can pop up when you run a business. Some of the tech support services can include:

  • Setting up systems

  • Troubleshooting issues

  • Helping with third party software and platforms including course platforms, client management software and newsletter platforms

This can be a very popular option as some higher-level VAs will do bits and pieces of it, but we often prefer to outsource to someone else if we can. It’s also in high demand with older practitioners who might struggle to wrap their heads around the software or platform.

Admin

This is what people think VAs do - your all-rounder work. It can include:

  • Inbox management

  • Appointment bookings and rescheduling

  • Invoicing

  • Basic bookkeeping

  • Data entry

Customer service

This can overlap with admin tasks, but is more specific to working directly with the client or customer base of the business. It can include:

  • Responding to emails from clients/customers

  • Monitoring and responding to questions in Facebook groups (particularly for paid products and services)

  • Arranging refunds

  • Fixing any login issues for paid memberships or courses

Misc services

Some services are particular to a modality, niche or your experience. For example, I know of VAs who offer:

  • Recipe development

  • Meal planning

  • Event creation and management

And this is not even a complete list!

What should I offer as a health VA?

That was a pretty crazy-long list for an incomplete list - but don’t panic. You don’t need to get overwhelmed and offer ALL of those services. In fact, I recommend you don’t offer heaps of services!

Want to know the secret about what you should offer?

Offer whatever you are good at and you enjoy, and ditch the rest.

This is what I did to build up my business and reputation - people know me for my specific area of service, and they happily pay me well for those services!

Of course, just because you don’t know how to do something doesn’t mean you can never offer that service. You can teach yourself new skills and add to your services as you become amazing at those skills.

But you need to make sure that you truly enjoy the majority of the tasks involved with each service. Otherwise, you’re putting yourself on the fast-track to resentment, overwhelm and burnout (and I speak from extensive experience in all of the above!)

Wondering if you have what it takes to start working as a health virtual assistant?

If you love the idea of:

  • Building a thriving biz as a health virtual assistant (including any of the services listed above!)

  • Making money from the comfort of your home, your bed, your favourite cafe or even a tropical island resort (wherever you like, really!)

  • Pricing yourself in that sweet spot of client-friendly but not hitting burnout

  • Standing out from the crowd so you can work with the people you admire the most

  • Having the freedom to live your life and not be glued to your work 24/7...

then 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗧𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗩𝗔 is what you want to get your hot lil hands on!
