Spice Quarter: Your Subscription To Great Taste?

When I first heard about Spice Quarter, I was pretty excited! It was like a dream come true for me – all natural spice blends, all organic, all tasty. So when the opportunity arose to get my own month supply to trial? Of course I took it.

What Is Spice Quarter?

Simply put: it’s an Aussie online spice shop. They supply beautifully blended dry spice mixes with recipes to suit.

Their number one product is their subscription box. You receive a set of spice blends and matching recipes every month. You can set it up as either a monthly subscription, or as a prepaid subscription.

Spice Quarter Review

First Impression

The package itself is nice and small. For those people who work during the day, it means the postie won’t make you come fetch it!

Unfortunately, my postie decided to jam the cardboard package into my thin mailbox. Cue 10 minutes of struggling in the dark to remove it. There was a battle between myself and a rather large spider – he obviously likes a bit of spice.

Anyway, that’s why there’s no pretty pictures of the package itself. Blame the postie!

However, it is small, and has a very cute sticker on it. You’ll know exactly what you’re getting.

Once you open it up, ySpice Quarter Blends & Recipe Cardsou’ll see something a little like this:

The Recipe Cards

Each spice blend comes with its own recipe card. Huzzah! This is perfect for people new to cooking with spice blends. It’s also a good starting point for the more creative people.

The recipes themselves are nice and basic. They use ingredients that you can use in any supermarket. In fact, they’re often what you will already have stashed in the pantry or fridge. The real magic is in the spice blends themselves.

However, if you have strict dietary rules or allergies, you will need to make substitutions. Although the spices themselves are Paleo, vegan and organic, not all recipes are. You can’t always please everyone!

The Spice Blends

Then we get to the blends themselves. They are beautifully packaged – just look at them! You know exactly what is in every single one. The blend name either states the cuisine, or gives you a hint (psst, Ras El Hanout is a North African blend).

You’ve also got a Best Before, which is handy for those of us with an overflowing spice drawer! Allergies and traces are clearly stated for those who need it.

We’ve only just opened the blends to play with them. In fact, Nick was grumpy that I wouldn’t let him play until I got some good photos first! But they smell divine – you can even get a good whiff through the packaging.

My Thoughts

From a nutritionist perspective, these spices are ideal. They are nothing but herbs, spices and/or natural salt mixed together. There’s no fillers, anti-caking agents, anything hidden or nasty.

One of my top recommendations for almost anything is to add more herbs and spices. They are incredibly nutrient-dense for such small doses. There’s a tonne of health benefits on offer, and so many antioxidants to keep you healthy.

Sure, if you’re not big on good tasting food, or your budget is super-tight, it might not be your best option. But if you do want to improve your health with one simple addition, this could be it.

Spice Quarter also have gift boxes, so if you have a foodie friend, it could be a great birthday or Christmas pressie.

One thing I love: if you fall in love with a blend and want a greater quantity, or you want a blend tweaked to your preference, Spice Quarter can help! All you do is contact them with your request, and they’ll arrange a custom order for you.

  • Creative foodies who want some extra inspiration in the kitchen

  • Organic lovers who struggle to source all of the different spices – Spice Quarter do the hard work for you
