Guest Blogging For Your Health Biz
There is a lot of writing when it comes to running a health business. But one that you might not have considered is guest blogging for other businesses and practitioners.
Let’s have a look at the pros and cons, and how to use guest blogging as a tool for your biz.
Why guest blogging?
It’s pretty cool to see your name and expertise on another website or publication. But let’s look at a few reasons why you might want to guest blog.
You want to boost your presence on the internet. The more sites you appear on and have links on, the better it is for your Google ranking.
You want to reach a new audience that might have your target audience in it.
You want to build your reputation as an expert. This is where sharing knowledge on bigger sites can be helpful.
When guest blogging is a good idea
The business has a similar niche to yours
The blog reaches a good percentage of your ideal clients
You have an opportunity to build your reputation as an expert in your area
If you have a relevant promo to share in relation to your topic
You want to support a cause
When guest blogging is a bad idea
The business is demanding regular content for little return – this could be a sign that they are using you for free content instead of employing a writer
They are not compatible with your ideal client or niche area
They have very little influence and few followers, but claim to give you great exposure – this could be a sign that they are using you
It just doesn’t feel right – trust your gut with this one!
Should you get paid for guest blogging?
A lot of people wonder whether they should be paid for their guest blogs. The truth is, it does depend. Generally, you will not get paid for a once-off article. A few sites do offer payment for articles.
But if you’re looking to grow your client base, payment shouldn’t be the main focus. If you choose your guest blogging opportunities carefully, it will pay far more in the long run.
How to get started
You’re ready to jump in! Here are a few places to get started.
Follow callouts on SourceBottle. Make sure you check out the business name if listed before submitting a request. I also don’t recommend sending through a full article – instead, just make contact and let them know your idea.
Ask your referral partners. If you know a fellow practitioner with a blog, ask to share or even swap a blog. Next week, we’ll look at others writing blogs for your site.
Contact sites that you follow along with and think are compatible. If you never ask, you’ll never know!
