Promo Paralysis - Are You Afraid To Promote Your Practitioner Services?
Do you have promo paralysis?
You're not alone. Every week I speak to health practitioners who are afraid to promote their services. Or maybe they just keep putting it off, and finding other to-dos instead.
But if you want to book clients, you need to be promoting your services on a regular basis. So let's get to the root of your promo paralysis pronto.
Figure out why you have promo paralysis in the first place
After all, you can't fix a problem until you understand why you have it in the first place! Let's dive into why you might be struggling to promote your services.
Ask yourself the following questions:
Am I proud of what I'm offering?
Do I feel like I'm not experienced enough to offer my services? (this one is often relevant to new practitioners!)
Am I afraid that I'm overcharging? Or am I undercharging and resenting it?
Am I concerned about being visible as a practitioner? Are there underlying fears about exposing myself to legal action?
How am I feeling right now? Is burnout or exhaustion possibly playing a role in this resistance?
Am I worried that my branding, visual or copy isn't 'professional' or 'sparkly' enough to attract interest?
Am I afraid that no one will book in with me?
Is there some other reason why I'm playing small?
If there are any of these questions that give you a potential reason for your promo paralysis, OR if any of them trigger a defensive response, grab a piece of paper. Journal out any thoughts, feelings or reasons that you're giving.
If you can address any of these directly, go ahead and do so. But if you can't figure them out, there is still another step you can take that will lessen your promo paralysis.
Find your reason for why sharing your services is so important to you
The best way to get past your excuses and reasons is to find a bigger reason as to why you HAVE to share your offers.
So ask yourself: why is sharing your services important?
Why are you doing what you're doing?
Are you supporting people who have gone through a similar situation to you? Do you get out of bed in the morning because you love to help people towards their health goals? Is it your dream to share your knowledge with tens, hundreds or even thousands of people?
All of these require clients to find you and work with you.
Are there other reasons why you're working for yourself on top of your main 'why'?
Maybe you've got a goal to make a specific income that you can't make when you're working for someone else. Or perhaps you're managing your own health condition, so you're creating a career that adapts around the flares. It might even be that you want to work fewer hours so you can spend time with your family.
Well, guess what. The only way that you can achieve your 'why' is to share what you have to offer!
So you really have two choices - you either let all of those excuses hold you back from achieving your dream biz, or you decide that your why is bigger than any excuse that comes along.
Get some perspective
Now let's get a little realistic here. You are either working with people who want to be healthier and/or are suffering due to poor health of some kind.
They need your support and service to reach their goals and truly thrive! If you're not putting your offers out there, you are leaving them to flounder without your help. You're actively doing them a disservice by staying invisible.
So put on your big boss panties and get your offers out there.
The worst case scenario? No one takes those services up.
In that case, it's time to review your marketing and see where you need to tweak it so that your offers are irresistible to your ideal clients. But the best way to gauge whether an offer is of interest to your audience is to share it with them!
