10 Ideas To Keep You Occupied On A Quiet Clinic Day

Make a new business connection

You can never have too many connections for your business.

If you don't have a go-to practitioner in any modality that your clients might need, look up someone nearby. You could even offer an exchange of sessions if you're both quiet, so you can refer clients with an experience of what that practitioner has to offer.

This can extend to any other service or product as well. Hit up your local health food store, drop by the hairdresser's down the road, or even hunt down the accountant you need to sort out your finances.

Go for a walk around the neighbourhood

There is always something new to discover in the neighbourhood. When you walk around, you see it in a whole new light. You might find a new local business or practitioner. Or maybe you'll find flyers for a local event that's just launching.

And sometimes, you just get to meet the locals with friendly doggos. All of these give you an opportunity to boost your mental energy and potentially bring in new business.

Schedule some social media content

Staying consistent on social media is often easier said than done. So make the most of your free time and get ahead of your content game. You can schedule up to 6 months in advance using Facebook's in-built scheduler.

Schedule in your most popular articles, any links to freebies, and your favourite top tips throughout the 6 months. Then schedule specific content for your upcoming blog topics or promos.

Write some blog content

Content serves so many purposes, particularly on your website.

It builds up your SEO over the long term, it builds your reputation as a health expert, and it connects with your ideal client. And if you're strategic about how you write your articles, it becomes easy to repurpose and recycle the content.

So if it's been a while since your last blog, get writing! If you're not already on my mailing list, grab your free blog article checklist here to keep you on track as you write.

Do a Facebook live about a hot topic in your niche

Facebook live isn't for everyone. But if you're great at talking (and not so great at writing those same ideas down), make the most of it. You can either pick a topic that's been in the media, or a common issue that has been coming up for your current clients.

Make sure you include a call to action with a link - it could be to a blog, to your booking page, or to your mailing list.

For bonus points, brainstorm out a bunch of ideas, and do one whenever you have a quiet day!

Check in with your business goals

It's easy to get caught up in the daily grind of business. But if you've got a quiet clinic day, you have the perfect opportunity to go back to your goals.

Haven't set business goals for the year? Start there.

Already got goals? See what progress you've made, and what small actions you can take to get yourself closer to achieving those goals.

Brainstorm up a new service, package or workshop

Sometimes, it can be good strategy to come up with a new service, or a new way of offering your services. And sometimes, it's just fun! Either way, you can use your quiet clinic day to do just that.

Have a think about what might appeal to your ideal client. Do they want to get to the bottom of their issues? Put together a package of sessions with a small discount off the full price.

Do you have other practitioners you can collaborate with? Come up with a way to offer a few appointments with each service. You can even put together a low-cost workshop to bring in prospective clients.

Keep in mind, you don't have to launch this straight away. It might get added to your business goals, as per above, particularly if it's a big offer.

But if it's something relatively simple, pop it up as an offer on your Facebook page or through your mailing list. You never know - you might just get a nibble or two from interested people!

Learn something new

Time spent learning is never wasted - it makes you a better practitioner and human. So take some time to learn something new around health, business or other topics that interest you.

You might need to catch up on CPE points for your association requirements. Or this could be a good time to jump onto Google Scholar and scope out the latest research in your niche.

Take care of your own health and wellbeing

If you want to attract clients who prioritise their health, you want to do the same. So if it's been a while since you've had blood tests, a dentist appointment or a massage, get to it. If nothing else, book the appointments into your calendar.

This has actually been one of the most successful strategies in my own business. Every time I get a massage or go to the doctor's, I come home to email enquiries, invoices being paid and all sorts of opportunities!

Have a rest

Sometimes, you don't have clients booked in because your body and soul is desperate for a rest. So do 1-2 of the previous tips if you want to feel 'productive'. But then head home, and curl up in bed - with zero guilt.

The better rested you are, the better the practitioner you can be for your clients tomorrow.

Hopefully, you're now inspired to make the most of your quiet clinic day. The real trick is to focus not on the lack of clients, but what you can do with your time to get ahead of the game.
