How To Set Up For An Epic 2021
Want to make 2021 the year that you smash goals and go next-level? If so, you’re in good company.
The events of 2020 lit a fire in many health practitioners. So if you want to set yourself up to succeed this year, this guide is a handy starting point for you.
How to set your business up for an epic 2021
Review the year that was
There isn’t much point in winging it from year to year. Business is a process that requires constant progress.
You might feel like you’re not getting anywhere - but when you look back, you can see how far you’ve come.
Now obviously 2020 was a bit of a different year than those before it! So you want to keep that in mind and be compassionate with yourself.
Ask yourself:
How did you fail?
What did you learn from failures?
Have you learned anything that you do or don’t want from your business and life?
What was your mental and physical capacity?
What were the silver linings?
Are there any goals you want to carry over from last year?
These give you a good idea of what you want when it comes to 2021, which ties into our next step.
Set some goals
Now you can turn your mind to what I think is the fun part about a new year - goal-setting!
Set yourself some goals that fall under:
Financial
Business
Personal
Growth and development
The right goals for you depend on where you’re at in business and what type of goals you respond best to - because everyone is a little different when it comes to goals that motivate them!
For example, some jump at the chance to set huge almost-unachievable goals because it pushes them to stretch further. Others get down on themselves if they don’t hit a goal, so they’re better off setting goals that are just past the ‘comfort zone’.
I also recommend having a strong reason why behind every goal, as well as some idea of the how. But the how can change - so don’t get too hung up on that if it has to shift!

Get your planning pants on
Goals only happen when you make plans to progress towards them. Assuming that at least some of your goals include:
More clients
More money
Leveraging and/or diversifying your income
- then you need to plan out some action towards reaching clients and serving their needs.
I prefer to have a general yearly plan, then break it down into detailed plans each quarter. That way, I can review my progress and tweak every 3 months.
My process for planning out a quarter is:
Picking 1-2 promotional focuses for the quarter
Brainstorm out topics that lead into those promotions
Create content (blogs, social media and the like) based on those topics
Have a list of content to reuse if life gets in the way and I can’t tick off every single week of content
It’s simple but effective!
Batch it out
It’s no secret around here that I think the best form of marketing is lazy marketing! And one of my favourite ways to make marketing easier is to batch content out in advance.
Why batch?
It takes the pressure off, so you don’t get intimidated by the blinking cursor every single week
By creating content in one go, you know that your voice and message are consistent for the whole batch
You get into a better state of flow, it takes less time to create the same amount of content
You can tailor batching to suit your preferences – you can plan and schedule everything in, or you can simply batch out some content depending on your inspiration that day!
So get to batching your preferred form of content - be it blogs, photos, videos, podcasts or a mix of content. You can still post content spontaneously around your batches - in fact, it takes the pressure off and means you’re more inspired to post!
